Our Story

Beautiful Gate Empowerment & Support Foundation was born from a vision to create lasting change in underserved communities across Nigeria. Founded with the belief that every individual deserves access to opportunities for growth and development, our journey began with a simple yet powerful mission: to open doors of hope and possibility for those who need it most.

Beautiful Gate Empowerment & Support Foundation (BGESFO) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to charity, humanitarian service, and social development.
Founded and chaired by Sewuese Bem, BGESFO draws its inspiration from her upbringing in a Nigerian community where generosity was a family tradition. Growing up, Sewuese witnessed her parents’ constant acts of kindness toward neighbours, relatives, visitors, and even strangers — instilling in her a lifelong commitment to giving and compassion.
Over time, she realised that true empowerment extends beyond providing material assistance. People also need knowledge, education, protection, shelter, tools, opportunities, security, peace, and empathy to live fulfilling lives.
Guided by this understanding, BGESFO is passionately committed to advancing causes such as women’s emancipation, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, advocacy, mentorship, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, counselling, leadership, good governance, girl-child development, gender equality, technology, healthcare management, and cultural preservation.
At Beautiful Gate Empowerment & Support Foundation, every initiative is driven by a single purpose — transforming lives with compassion, purpose, and impact.

What started as a grassroots initiative has grown into a comprehensive organisation serving thousands of individuals across multiple communities. Through dedication, perseverance, and the unwavering support of our partners and volunteers, we have expanded our reach and deepened our impact in education, healthcare, and community development.

The "Beautiful Gate" Inspiration

Our name draws inspiration from the biblical account of transformation and empowerment at the Beautiful Gate. Just as that ancient gateway became a place of healing and hope, we strive to be a gateway through which individuals and communities pass from struggle to strength, from limitation to opportunity, and from despair to hope.

Today, BGESFO stands as a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action. We continue to evolve, innovate, and expand our programmes to meet the changing needs of the communities we serve, always guided by our core values and unwavering commitment to creating a better future for all.
